Ms. Niquita LaVerne Harris affectionately known as “Kita” of South Boston died on Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, at the age of 49.

Ms. Harris was born in Halifax County on Sept. 16, 1972 to Deborah LaVerne Harris Terry and the late Jerry Brooks.

Ms. Harris is survived by five daughters, Deja Womack, N’Dea M. Boxley, Zyire M. Boxley, Egypt M. Boxley and Kaitlyn Hairston; her mother, Deborah H. Terry; nine siblings, Bridgett Harris-Hamlett (Charlie), Katina Davis (Jermaine), Chanta Reed (Lionel), Troy Roberts, John Brooks (Rita), Ernest Givens, ShaVon Givens, Anthony Brooks and Tateanna Givens; five aunts; one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service for Ms. Niquita LaVerne Harris will be held on Friday, Nov. 19, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Constitution Square, South Boston, with Minister Anthony Womack, eulogist. 

Public viewing for family and friends was held Thursday from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. Following COVID-19 guidelines, a facemask and social distancing were required.
