Mr. Paul Burns III of River Road, South Boston, died Saturday, Nov. 21 at Sentara Woodview at the age of 76.
Mr. Burns was born on May 6, 1944, in Halifax County, to the late Paul Burns II and Cleavie Garrett Burns. He was married to the late Emma Coleman Burns. He was employed by J.P. Stevens Company for over 30 years.
Mr. Burns is survived by two brothers, Lester Burns (Gwen) of Halifax and Henry Burns of Hampton; one sister, Evelyn Burns Cunningham (Joel) of Halifax; one sister-in-law, Ms. Catherine Ragsdale Burns of Halifax; many wonderful loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a kind friend of many years, David Logan.
Including his parents and wife, Paul was preceded in death by four brothers, Elton Burns, James Burns, John Burns and Robert “Bobby” Burns; four sisters, Margaret Pollard, Hester White, Katie Oliver and Pauline Edmonds.
Private graveside services will be conducted by the family. Public viewing will be at Jeffress Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, Nov. 24 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
