Mrs. Pauline Dixon Palmer of Union Grove Road, South Boston died Wednesday, Aug. 26, 2020, at her residence at the age of 87.

Mrs. Palmer was born in Halifax County on Sept. 25, 1932 to the late Earlie Dixon and Isalean Womack Dixon White and was married to the late Jeffrey Palmer Sr. and was a member of New Mount Olive Apostolic Church.

Mrs. Palmer is survived by two daughters, Bertha Olds of New York and Bessie Sydnor of Virginia; nine sons, Tex Hamlett of Virginia, the Rev. David Hamlett of Connecticut, John Hamlett (Cassie), Jeffery Palmer Jr. (Vernell), Joshua Palmer (Deborah), James Palmer, Jackie Palmer and Sammie Palmer, all of Virginia and Michael Palmer of North Carolina; three sisters, Racheal Judkins, Hattie Davis and Lucy Dixon; two brothers, Fulton “Bud” White (Pastor Susie) and Benny White Sr. (Rose), all of Connecticut; one half sister, Gladys Barksdale; a host of grandchildren including Tammy and Michael Ford whom she raised; great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; god-son, Earl Hart (Carolyn); her pastor, Bishop Leonia Palmer; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, William Moses Hamlett Jr. and Earl Hamlett; one daughter, Arlene Lee; three brothers, Tom Dixon, Will Dixon and Roger “Lee” White; one sister, Agnes Hamlett; and devoted friend William “Bill” Hamlett.

Funeral service for Mrs. Palmer will be Saturday, Sept. 12, 2020, at 11 a.m. at New Mount Olive Apostolic Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday, Sept. 11, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

Due to COVID-19, masks must be worn, and social distancing is required in the church and at the cemetery.
