Richard V. “Dickie” Brizendine Sr. of Nathalie passed away Feb. 4, 2020.

He was born in Halifax County on March 29, 1935 and was 84 years old. He was the son of the late Frank William Brizendine Sr. and the late Martha Ada Rice Brizendine. He was married to the late Lynda Crews Brizendine.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Republican Grove. Dickie was an avid fisherman, hunter and loved playing horseshoes.

Survivors include his son, Richard V. Brizendine Jr., and wife Rhonda of Scottsburg; his daughter, Martha L. Brizendine, of Nathalie; three grandchildren, Michael Brizendine (Donna) of Alton, Travis Mullins (Leslie) of Wake Forest, North Carolina and Laurie Mullins (Andrew) of Kannapolis, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Madelynn Davis, Bailey, Hank and Kimmy Brizendine; five nieces and nephews, Bobby Brizendine, Brenda Womack, Linda Waller, Danny Brizendine and Pam Vernon; and a host of extended family.

Special thanks to his caregivers, Barbara Fallen and Teresa Anderson.

In addition to his parents and second wife, his first wife, Annie Marie Davis Brizendine, and siblings Frank W. Brizendine Jr., Lacy M. Brizendine, Jessie E. Brizendine and Bennie E. Brizendine, also preceded him in death.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2020, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Republican Grove with the Pastor Zak Ford officiating.

Burial will follow in church cemetery.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
