Mrs. Rita Jean Farmer Plenty formerly of South Boston died on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2020, in Upper Marlboro, Maryland at the age of 75. 

Mrs. Plenty was born in San Marcos, Texas on Nov. 3, 1944 to the late Mr. Herman J. Farmer and Mrs. Margaret Kirk Farmer. She was married to Mr. Arthur Plenty, and at an early age joined First Baptist Church of South Boston.

Mrs. Plenty worked at Steven Windsor and Shoppers Food Warehouse until she retired. 

Mrs. Plenty is survived by her husband, Mr. Arthur Plenty of Alexandria; one daughter, Mrs. Wintress Dardy and husband Kenneth of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; two grandchildren, Marqita and Kenneth; godchildren Ms. Monica Carr of Woodbridge and Mrs. Cherelle Gardiner of Conway, South Carolina; two brothers, Mr. George Farmer and Mr. Andre Faulkner, both of South Boston; two devoted friends, Ms. Mattie Smith of Upper Marlboro, Maryland and Mrs. Nancy Van Eeckhaute of Woodbridge; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ms. Lola Wallace.

Funeral services for Mrs. Rita Jean Farmer Plenty will be held Friday, Jan.10, 2020, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, South Boston, with the Rev. Dr. Allan Smith Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

The family will receive friends and have the public viewing one hour prior to the service.
