Mr. Robert Lee Carr of Brooklyn, New York, and formerly of Halifax County died Friday, Aug. 2, 2019, at The Veterans Hospital in Brooklyn, New York at the age of 94.
Mr. Carr was born in Halifax County on March 19, 1925 to the late Mr. Henry Carr and Mrs. Sirlena Ewell Carr and was married to Mrs. Bettie Mae Smith-Carr.
He was a member of Sunflower Baptist Church and a United States Army World War II veteran.
Mr. Carr is survived by his wife; one son, Mr. Robert Atwell Carr, (Wanda) of Hempstead, New York; two daughters, Ms. Sirlena Carr of Hempstead, New York, and Ms. Elaine Carr of Freeport, New York; seven grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; one god-daughter; one sister, Dr. Bessie Carr, of Nathalie; three sisters-in-law; and a host great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers, Mr. John Pleasant Carr, Mr. Henry Moses Carr, Mr. Charlie Carr, Mr. James Thomas Carr and Mr. William Andrew Carr, and one sister, Ms. Eddie Mae Carr.
Funeral services for Mr. Carr will be Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. at Sunflower Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert M. Tucker Jr. officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites by American Legion Post 99.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday.
