Mrs. Sallie Ann Chambers of L. P. Bailey Memorial Hwy., Halifax died Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, at Sentara Woodview at the age of 89.

Mrs. Chambers was born in Halifax County on March 16, 1930 to the late Mr. Hurley Traynham and Mrs. Nannie Wimbush Traynham. She was married to the late Mr. Willie H. Chambers and was a member of The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Mrs. Chambers is survived by seven daughters, Mrs. Margaret Chambers Tucker, Ms. Catherine Davis, Mrs. Josephine Williams (John), Ms. Mary Johnson, all of Halifax, and Ms. Lucille Waller Williams, Ms. Patricia Byrd and Ms. Virginia Jones, all of South Boston; two sons, Mr. David Chambers of  Graham, North Carolina, and Mr. Gene Chambers of Alexandria; three sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; 22 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, one daughter, Ms. Jeanette Chambers, three sons, Mr. Calvin Chambers, Mr. Willie Howard Chambers Jr. and Mr. Larry Chambers, and two sisters, Ms. Addie Traynham and Mrs. Sylvester Jerkins, also preceded Mrs. Chambers in death.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019, at 1 p.m. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 7001 L. P. Bailey Memorial Hwy., South Boston.
