Sandra Olivia Guthrie Watts of Nelson finished her earthly journey on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.
She was born on April 27, 1944, to the late Jasper Johnson Guthrie and the late Nannie Holmes Elder Guthrie Dews. She was married to the late Rev. Robert “Bob” Edward Watts.
She was a member of Hitesburg Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, a member of the senior citizens group and loved Bingo Tuesday. Sandra was a dedicated pastor’s wife, helping her husband minister to their churches he served. She and Bob loved to hunt and fish together. Sandra’s passing leaves a void in many lives. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Sandra Olivia Guthrie Watts is survived by her sister, Colleen Elder (Dennis) of Brookneal; one nephew, Dennis Elder Jr. (Cherie) of Evington; and stepbrother, Ralph Dews (Wanda) of Farmville.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jasper Johnson Guthrie Jr.; and stepbrother Larry Dews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 27, 2023, at 3 p.m. at Hitesburg Baptist Church with the Rev. Ian Rigney and the Rev. Jack Stewart officiating.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday, May 27, 2023, one hour prior to the service at the church.
