Mrs. Shirley Clark Stevens of South Boston passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2020, at the age of 87. She was born on Oct. 2, 1932 in Halifax County to the late James Russell Clark and the late Edith Carpenter Clark and was married to the late Frank Thomas Stevens.

Shirley was a graduate of Turbeville High School and worked with Burlington Industries for 19 years, then with ABB for 23 years, retiring in 1991, after which she graduated from DCC as a certified nursing assistant. She was a faithful member of Black Walnut Baptist Church, an active choir member and was loved by all members there. 

Shirley is survived by sons David A. Stevens of South Boston and Gary Thomas Stevens and wife Janet of Halifax; daughter Karen S. Bliss and husband Stan of South Boston; eight grandchildren, Stephen Bliss, Beth Anne Murray, Ashley B. Riddle (Chip), Christopher A. Stevens (Hilary), Kristin S. Correll (Brooks), Jessica S. Snead (Jamie), Courtney S. White (Trey) and Dustin T. Stevens. She was blessed with 18 great grandchildren. A brother, LeRoy Keith Clark, also survives.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Delbert Clark and Raymond Clark; three sisters, Gladys Dyer, Margaret Tingen and Evelyn Long.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 24, 2020, at Brooks Lyon Betty B. Jones Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family received friends Thursday, Jan. 23, 2020, from 6 until 7:30 p.m. at Brooks Lyon Funeral Home and other times at the home.
