Mrs. Willie Mae Pinckney Chalmers of South Boston died on Saturday, July 4, 2020, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital at the age of 84.

Mrs. Chalmers was born Aug. 31, 1935 to the late Mr. Henry Jones and Mrs. Gennie “Flossie” Pinckney Jones and was married to the late Elder Stanfield Plenty Chalmers Sr. Mrs. Chalmers was a member of Rock of Salvation Apostolic Church.

Mrs. Chalmers is survived by six sons, Mr. Standfield Chalmers Jr. (Toni), Mr. Jessie Chalmers Sr. and Mr. Carlton Chalmers, all of South Boston, Elder Lorenzo Chalmers (Tamara) of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Bishop David Chalmers Sr. (Nadine) and Mr. Jackey Chalmers (Darlena), both of Halifax; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Maudine Gamble of Jersey City, New Jersey, Mrs. Pearl “Ruth” Jerido of St. Stephens, South Carolina and Ms. Ann Cummings of Melbourne, Florida; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Willie Mae Pinckney Chalmers was preceded in death by one daughter, Ms. Nioeker Chalmers; one son, Mr. Emell Chalmers; one sister, Mrs. Mae Pinnacle; and two brothers, Mr. Abel Pinckney and Mr. Benjamin “Redbird” Pinckney.

Funeral service for Mrs. Willie Mae Pinckney Chalmers will be Saturday, July 11, 2020, at 11 a.m. at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax with Bishop Richard Petway officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday, July 10, 2020, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at The Crawford House Chapel in Halifax.
