Those of us who are old enough to remember the chaos that followed the plane crashes in September 2001 also will remember the fear for the safety of their loved ones and family members.

My initial memory of that morning is waking up to sunshine on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Rising early, as I always do, I had a coffee mug in my hand. There was a beautiful sunrise over the vast waters of the Atlantic Ocean. I was preparing a day of sand and sun with wonderful friends. The cooler was packed down with my favorite “beer of the day” and ready waiting by a new beach chair.
