To the editor:

An open mind is a precious gift. As our country slowly starts to go down a spiral path, we truly need to have an open mind. What has happened to us?

Our people are slowly becoming weak and we’re fast forgetting what is important and what is not.

Too many things clutter our good judgment. We don’t seem to have the courage to stand up for what we believe in. I’m afraid if we don’t shape up, we’d lose the precious freedoms we enjoy so much and what our forefathers fought and died for. I know when things become difficult it causes us to feel like why bother.

We can’t give up on our country, our beliefs and especially, our faith. If we do then we will become a weak nation that could cause other nations to take us over.

I can’t imagine not being able to voice my opinion and to keep an open mind. However anything is possible if we don’t stand together. We need to always be strong and keep evil out of our country.

An example of this is that a short time ago we couldn’t even have a fair election. It was one that consisted of lies, cheating, deceit and a lot of untruths. No one has yet been able to prove that it was rigged or fixed. But in time, the truth will be revealed.

We say we live in a free democracy but certainly there is room for doubt. Are these the principles we as Americans stand for? America’s values and principles are slowly slipping away. These values and principles are what our country was built on.

Some have even given up on their faith in God. Think twice before you start taking God out of everything. After all, he is the reason we live today.

Also blame is something that we don’t keep an open mind to. It’s too easy to put the blame on someone else. This way we feel we are free and clear.

Why people turn to violence over truth simply annoys me. Take the incident that happened last month at the Capitol building. People invaded the Capitol building claiming that they were peaceful protestors. However, they were anything but. They used violence to get in and once in, they not only caused destruction, but also hurt innocent people and also killed some. For what purpose? Can you think of one? If this keeps happening, America will truly start to fail.

Having an open mind is one of God’s greatest gifts to us. Use this gift of an open mind to make America great again. It’s a gift that just keeps on giving. Make a promise to yourself to always keep an open mind, especially when it comes to making tough decisions.

By keeping an open mind, you will always be in control of all your actions. All the things you are able to accomplish in your lifetime will be remembered because of your open-minded reputation.

If we as a country want to survive we must do two things. First and foremost we need to keep God in our life because all things are possible through him. Second, in everything we do we need to keep an open mind. That way the decisions we make will be the right ones. Too, they will define who we are.

All any of us ever need to do to live a good life is to keep an open mind, love one another and just know that we are never alone. To some of you, these things don’t seem to matter, but there will come a time that they will. God bless our country all its people.
