To the editor:

Our local election day will soon be upon us and today I write in support of a candidate most of us know — Tommy Elliott — for South Boston Town Council.

A lot of us know Tommy personally — through Elliott Electric, the local IDA, at First Baptist Church, through high school basketball or softball, through golf on local courses, through his support for all things local, The Prizery, the Virginia Cantaloupe Festival, the Hospice gala, etc.

He has lived his life in support of this community, giving back to the place he was raised and still dearly loves. We also know how tenacious he is!  Some of us might even say he’s a little bit stubborn! In this case, it’s a compliment, not a fault.

Tommy has that unique ability to look at a problem and find a solution, and he’s just stubborn enough to keep at it until he’s worked it out. His strong work ethic is evident in the success of the business his father started, and Tommy built from a small company to a regional powerhouse for all things electrical.

We have been blessed with visionary people that came before us who helped create the community we now live in. It is imperative that we continue to elect those who are most capable of charting the future course of our community — people with the vision to make things better for all citizens and the tenacity to make that vision a reality. Tommy has that vision.

In these current uncertain times, we sorely need people with a proven track record of leadership.  Tommy has that leadership ability.

Let’s vote to continue the success of our community. Vote for Tommy Elliott for South Boston Town Council and keep us headed in the right direction!

Most sincerely,

Shelia Bradley
