If you are an aspiring artist or metalsmith or simply a do-it-yourselfer with an interest in welding, the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) has just the course for you. The at-home welder is a six-week project-based course developed with the recreational welder in mind.
Led by certified Welding@SVHEC instructors, the At-Home Welder course will be held in the Innovation Center welding lab where the very popular National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) certified welding program is housed.
Classes begin April 17 and will be held on Monday and Tuesday evenings.
According to Lead Welding Instructor Troy Comer, “Participants will learn basic cutting and welding processes through the use of an individual, motivational project.”
He adds that no previous welding experience is necessary, and if participants already have projects in mind, they are encouraged to bring them along.
