The championship chases in the South Boston Recreation Department’s Business & Industrial/30 & Over Basketball League came down to the season’s last round of games, with Dollar General/UNARCO taking the Business & Industrial League title and Italian Delight winning the regular-season championship in the 30 & Over League.

Dollar General/UNARCO won the regular-season title in the Business & Industrial League with a 62-47 win over Youth Coaches. Italian Delight won the regular-season in the 30 & Over League with a 46-37 victory over Benchmark.

Last Sunday’s final round of regular-season contests was an exciting one as the top two teams in both leagues faced each other on the final day of the season to determine the regular-season championships.

There will be no games this coming Sunday as the league will take a break for Super Bowl Weekend. The two league tournaments will start on Sunday, Feb. 10, with four games in the Business & Industrial League Tournament and the 30 & Over League Tournament championship game between top-seeded Italian Delight and second-seeded Benchmark scheduled for that day. The 30 & Over League Tournament title game is set for 6 p.m. on Feb. 10.

Four players received Player of the Week honors for their performances in last Sunday’s contests. Ryan Cobbs of Dollar General / UNARCO was recognized for his 16-point performance in his team’s win over Youth Coaches. Cobbs hit six field goals in the game, one of them a 3-pointer.

Shamoni Faulkner of Italian Delight earned a Player of the Week honor for his effort in his team’s nine-point win over Benchmark. Faulkner scored 18 points that included a trio of 3-point baskets.

Player of the Week honors were also given to Tysean Dunkley of ABB, who scored 33 points in his team’s win over Goodyear. Dunkley scored 25 of his points in the second half. He hit 15 field goals in the contest including a pair of 3-pointers.

Donta’ Boyd of AWNC earned Player of the Week honors for his performance in his team’s win over Eaton. Boyd scored 10 points in the game, including a pair of 3-point baskets.
