The Halifax County High School golf team continued its march toward the Piedmont District regular-season title with a win in Monday’s district round at Olde Mill Country Club in Laurel Fork.

Halifax County High School, with a team total of 324, finished 15 shots ahead of runner-up and Monday’s host Patrick County High School, who came in at 339. Magna Vista High School, the team that had been the Comets’ biggest challenger through district play this season, finished third at 345. Tunstall High School finished fourth Monday at 349, and GW finished fifth at 364.

Halifax County High School teammates Will Abdi and Ryan Corona earned co-medalist honors for Monday’s round, with both carding a round of 78. Willoughy Gasperini followed for the Comets with a round of 81, and Harrison Culpepper’s round of 87 completed the four scores that counted toward the Comets’ team total.

Joseph Wilson came in with a round of 90, and Minjune Kim posted a round of 92, as they were included among the six designated players for the Comets from whom the four best scores would be counted. Peyton Wallace also participated in the round.
