Larry Roller of Scottsburg has become the first big winner in the revamped prize structure format for this season’s Professor Pigskin Football Contest.
Roller emerged with a perfect slate in this past week’s contest, an accomplishment that rewards him with the entire $60 in prizes.
Under this season’s new prize format, if a contestant turns in a perfect slate, he or she will win all of the prize money (a total of $60), and no first-place, second-place or third-place prizes will be awarded for that week.
Roller, with his 15-0 mark for this past week, is the first contest entrant this season to cash in on the perfect slate takes all format.
This past week’s contest was every bit as competitive as the opening week’s contest was. Five contest entry blanks had 14 correct picks, a dozen contest entry blanks had 13 correct picks, three entry blanks had 12 correct picks, and five entry blanks had 11 correct picks. A total of 33 entry blanks had 10 or more correct picks on the 15-game slate.
“Congratulation go out to Larry Roller for his perfect slate,” said the Professor.
“That is a nice accomplishment considering how close several of last week’s games were. I thank all of the contestants that have participated in the contest the first two weeks for taking their time to enter, and I thank the participating businesses for their support.”
While the contest has been very competitive over the first two weeks, Professor Pigskin also has shined. With the point spreads being used, Professor Pigskin had two ties in the first week and had another tie this past week.
Professor Pigskin reminds everyone to get their entries in for this week’s contest. All contest entries, whether mailed in or turned in at The Gazette-Virginian office, must be turned in by 5 p.m. Friday in order to be eligible for judging.
