The South Boston Business & Industrial/30 & Over Basketball League now has two teams atop the rankings as Food Lion Distribution and Italian Delight both advanced to 2-0 Sunday.

Benchmark, Food Lion Distribution, Italian Delight and Polywood II all claimed victories in their games Sunday.

The first game of the afternoon was team Benchmark taking on team Goodyear, both who had records of 0-1.

Benchmark claimed the win over Goodyear with a final score of 48-43 and was led by Tyrone Barksdale who scored 15 points, five of which were from the free throw line.

The difference in the game came down to free throws. Benchmark made 11 free throws on 17 opportunities while Goodyear only made one free throw out of their three attempts.

Jaaron Hairston was the leading scorer for Goodyear with 10 points and was the only player from the Goodyear team to even attempt a free throw going 1/3 from the line.

Food Lion Distribution took on Polywood I and claimed the victory with a final score of 52-26 and defeated them in every statistical category.

Nathaniel Johnson led the Food Lion Distribution team with 15 points and two threes in the game, while Jea’Ron Rogers led Polwyod I in scoring with 11 points, no other player for Polywood I scored double digits in their loss.

The third game of the evening was between Italian Delight and Presto, and the Italian Delight team won with a final score of 52-47.

The difference in the game was Italian Delight’s impressive inside game making 14 two pointers in the contest.

Italian Delight was led by E.J. Hamlin, who scored 20 points and Robert Perkins, who had 18 points. While Prestos’ Erick Edmonds led all scorers on the day with 27 points and five three pointers.

The final game of the afternoon was between Polywood II and Eaton Corporation.

Polywood II won the contest with a final score of 2-0 due to a forfeit by Eaton Corporation.

This is the second game in a row the Eaton Corporation team has forfeited and has now been eliminated from the Business & Industrial/30 & Over Basketball League due to league rules stating that two forfeits in a season will result in a team being dropped from the league.

The Business & Industrial/30 & Over Basketball League named Barksdale of Benchmark, Nathaniel Johnson of Food Lion Distribution and Perkins of Italian Delight as their Players of the Week.

The Business & Industrial/ 30 & Over Basketball League will have Halloween Day games with Polywood I (1-1) taking on Polywood II (1-0) at 3 p.m., Goodyear (0-2) taking on Italian Delight (2-0) at 4 p.m., Hitachi-ABB/ Trilum LLC (1-0) taking on Presto (0-2) at 5 p.m. and Benchmark (1-1) taking on Food Lion Distribution (2-0) at 6 p.m.
