Sarah Gordon a catcher for the Lexington High School Wildcats and a former South Boston resident signed onto play softball at the University of Louisville on Nov. 10, but verbally committed to the prestigious university on Aug. 29.

Gordon was a resident of South Boston for 11 years before moving to Lexington, South Carolina when she was eleven years old.

She played softball for Dixie Youth, her travel team the Halifax Thunder and was a part of the Diamond Fever travel team in Danville.

“I actually went to another school’s softball camp and talked to the Louisville coach there, then I visited Louisville and it really just felt like home,” said Gordon.

Gordon will continue her softball career as the catcher for Louisville over the next four years.
