The YMCA of South Boston/Halifax County is hosting the new program that came to Halifax County this fall.
Thirteen girls and their six coaches have been completing the eight-week girls empowerment program, which includes training for a 5K. The Halifax Girls on the Run team will complete their 5K race on Saturday, Nov. 21, on the Tobacco Heritage Trail in South Boston.
In order to keep the event as safe as possible, only the girls and their family members may run with the group.
