CHARLOTTE, N.C. — After firing three consecutive rounds under par to open his 2019-20 season, Radford redshirt senior golfer Peter Gasperini was named last week as the Big South Conference Co-Golfer of the Week, the league announced.
Gasperini led the Highlanders with a third-place finish at the VCU Invitational and was one of just four players in the 75-man field to shoot 10-under or better across 54 holes.
Gasperini opened his tournament with consecutive rounds of 2-under (70), then had a monstrous 6-under 66 on the final day of the tournament to jump eight spots from a tie for 11th place into a tie for third.
Gasperini was bogey-free in the final round of the tournament and recorded 10 birdies and one eagle across three rounds, with just two bogeys in the 54 holes.
Gasperini’s play helped lead the Highlanders to an eighth-place finish at 5-under for the tournament, as Radford moved up a spot on the final day of the tournament. The Highlanders shot 2-under as a team on the final day.
