David Graham and Raleigh Powell won the championship of the Sixth Annual Slo Shootout golf tournament played Saturday at Green’s Folly Golf Course.

The 27-hole tournament is played in honor of late Halifax County businessman and golfer Mike “Slo” Gregory, and serves as a fundraiser for the Mike Gregory Memorial Scholarship Foundation to help provide scholarships for Halifax County High School students to attend college.

Graham and Powell finished with a 97 total to finish with a 2-shot edge over the teams of Chris Dockrill and Jack Dockrill and Phil Rinker and Kim Houseal. The Dockrill team and Houseal and Rinker tied for second place with the Dockrills taking the runner-up spot on a tiebreaker.

The team of Chris Murray and Bobby Murray won the Second Flight with a round of 106, edging E.C. Lewis and John Mele by one shot.

In the Third Flight, the teams of Brad Hoppe and Billy Henderson and Rob Wallace tied for first place at 109, with Hoppe and Jeff Barger winning the flight on a tiebreaker.

Greg Briggs and Jack Blaylock teamed up to win the Fourth Flight with a score of 105. They topped the runner-up team of Sammy Moser and Pete Atkins by two shots.

There was one hole-in-one made during the tournament, that coming from Gary Gupton on the par-3 second hole.
