The Halifax County Coach Pitch all-stars competed Tuesday for the Virginia state championship where they brought home the title with a final score of 4-1 against Charlotte County.
They have been successful in the state tournament going undefeated and with a record of 5-0.
They will be heading to Laurel, Mississippi, to compete in the World Series on Aug. 6.
In Tuesday’s game, Levi Torian and Nathan Hill reached base every time in the contest and both players scored once en route to their big win in the Virginia state championship game.
Torian also knocked in a run in the first inning to help Halifax extend their early 3-0 lead in the first.
Jeremiah Thomas would add one more run to the Halifax lead in the second inning and the coach pitch team would never look back.
“We won the state championship game last night against a great group of boys and a very good defensive team in Charlotte County,” head coach Justin Saunders said. “Levi Torian came up big at the plate again last night knocking in a run, Connor Long swung a hot bat all tournament long and made great defensive plays, Brecken Mears, Camden Brooks and James Horne all made stellar defensive plays to hold off Charlotte County.”
Saunders added, “I am very proud of the boys for their hard work leading up to this point, the team and our parents have been dedicated since the beginning and they represent our community well, they are a special group of boys.”
Friday the coach pitch all-stars opened the tournament on fire winning their first game against Goochland by slaughter rule in three innings, with a final score of 18-0.
Camden Saunders, West Shotwell, Camden Brooks and Nathan Hill all reached base every time en route to their dominate win.
Saturday the coach pitch team stayed hot winning 14-6 against Dinwiddie.
Camden Saunders and Jaxen Brown led the team by reaching base every time during the contest, Saunders scored three times and Brown scored two times during their win.
Sunday the coach pitch team continued their winning showcase, but this time in a tighter contest against Charlotte County.
Maddox Milam and Jaxen Brown led the all-stars reaching base every time en route to their 5-3 win over Charlotte County.
Monday the all-stars once again showed their dominance beating up on Madison Heights and winning the game by slaughter rule in four innings with a final score of 16-2.
Camden Saunders, West Shotwell, James Horne, Maddox Milam, Nathan Hill and Jaxen Brown all reached base every time during the win, Saunders and Shotwell also scored three times in the contest.
Now, the Virginia state champions will take on Florida Saturday in an exhibition game at 12:30 p.m. before they play in the World Series Aug. 6.
