The Halifax County Ponytails all-star team completed an easy march to the Dixie Softball District 7 championship Monday night with a 10-0 win over Brookneal in four innings in the district title game at the Mary M. Bethune Complex in Halifax.

Halifax County went undefeated through the tournament, finishing with a 3-0 mark after topping Altavista on Friday and Brookneal on Saturday.

Monday night’s game was an easy game for the Halifax County Ponytails division all-stars, with Jordan Allen having a big night on the mound in tossing a no-hitter with eight strikeouts.

Halifax County jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, added a run in the third inning to go up 4-0 and broke the game open with six runs in the fourth inning to end the game under a slaughter rule.

Halifax County had just four hits in the game with Hannah Ellixson, Hailey Jacobs, Gabby Easley and Hannah Abbott getting one hit each. Ellixson’s hit was a homer, and Jacobs’ hit was a double.

While Halifax County had only four hits, it took advantage of 10 Brookneal errors and three walks from Brookneal pitchers.

Brookneal had only three base runners in the contest, those coming from walks.
