The regular-season campaign in the South Boston Recreation Department Business & Industrial/30 & Over Basketball League closes Sunday, with the final game of this weekend’s session determining who will win the regular-season championship.

Italian Delight and Benchmark, both of whom sport an 8-1 record and sit in a tie for first place in the league standings, will square off Sunday at 6 p.m. in a game that will decide the regular-season championship.

The two teams tuned up for this Sunday’s headline event by easily dispatching their respective opponents this past Sunday. Benchmark had no trouble beating the Youth Coaches 65-45, and Italian Delight buried Presto/Elite Staffing 43-11 on day on which there were no close contests.

While the Italian Delight-Benchmark matchup headlines this weekend’s action, there is another big game, a co-feature game so to speak, that will play a role in determining the final league standings.

Dollar General/UNARCO and Youth Coaches, who are tied for second place in the standings, face each other in Sunday’s 5 p.m. game, giving this coming Sunday’s session a true late-day marquee doubleheader.

Five players earned Player of the Week honors this past Sunday, including Blaine Key of Italian Delight, Michael Nelson of Benchmark, Joey Barksdale of Dollar General/UNARCO, Tysean Dunkley of ABB and Demetrius Burrell of Aquatics/Tvilum LLC.

Key scored 12 of Italian Delight’s 43 points Sunday, hitting six field goals. Nelson scored 21 points in Benchmark’s win, hitting nine field goals. Barksdale scored 25 points for Dollar General/UNARCO in the team’s win, canning seven 3-pointers in the process.

Dunkley scored 29 points to help lead ABB to a 53-39 win over AWNC, hitting 10 baskets from the floor and added a pair of 3-pointers. Burrell was on fire, scoring 32 points to help Aquatics/Tvilum LLC to its 103-52 win over Goodyear, hitting 10 3-pointers in the process.
