Local travel baseball teams hit the field at the Day Complex in South Boston over the weekend to participate in the NC GameOn Sports Atlantic Coast Super Regional Tournament.

The Virginia Squires had five teams participating in the tournament, with two teams playing in the 12U D3 division.

The 11U Squires played in the 12U division and earned the No. 2 seed in the gold bracket. They defeated the Top Hand Reds 3-2 and the North Wake Steal 16-1 in pool play on Saturday and were one win away from the gold bracket championship game on Sunday as of press time.

The 12U Squires earned the No. 7 seed after pool play where they went 0-2, but they defeated the Top Hand Reds 9-5 in the silver bracket semifinals on Sunday morning and were set to face off with the Knightdale Skeeters in the silver bracket championship on Sunday.

The 13U Squires went 1-1 in pool play on Saturday, defeating the East Coast Clippers 3-1 and falling to the Virginia Seminoles 3-1 to earn the No. 2 seed the pool B heading into bracket play on Sunday.

In the 14U division, the Squires were the No. 3 seed going into bracket play on Sunday where they were set to play the Tunstall Prospects.

In the 10U division the Squires were undefeated in pool play on Saturday with 15-8 and 5-3 wins. They fell to the Southside Savages 13-6 on Sunday morning, but with only three teams in the division, there was no bracket play so final results will be in Wednesday’s edition.

The fall travel baseball season is in full swing and will continue each weekend from now until Nov. 22.
