To celebrate the late Wanda B. Jeffress’ love of education and golf, family and friends will hold a golf tournament in her memory Friday, June 7, at Green’s Folly Golf Course. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the naming opportunity at Halifax High School.

The entry fee for a four-person team is $300, and hole sponsorships are available for $100. Persons wishing to enter teams for the tournament should contact Mattie Cowan at 434-222-5512 or by e-mail at mmc2149@embarbmail.com for information.

Tee times are 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Jeffress passed away at age 60 in March of 2018; however, she left a legacy that will live on forever. Her love of education was evident with all of the young people she helped to further their education. She would ask what their plans were, and if there were no plans, she would take time to discuss options and paths they could take. She spent many days driving students to various colleges around Virginia.

Jeffress also loved to play golf, and when she had a little downtime, she would call friends to organize a golf game.
