The Halifax County O-Zone all-stars started off the state tournament hot winning their first two contests but lost their most recent game against Patrick County.

Monday the O-Zone all-stars took on Patrick County who was hot from the start of the game, scoring 11 runs in the six-inning contest. Halifax was only able to register three runs on three hits and could never get the bats going as Patrick County continued to add to their lead. Halifax County lost this contest with a final score of 11-3.

On Saturday the O-Zone all-stars pulled out a close one against Appomattox with a final score of 4-2. They scored two runs in the fourth inning of the game to take the lead and would never look back as they added one run in the fifth and six innings to close out the game.

Halifax County racked up a total of seven hits in the contest with Camdyn Gray leading the team with two hits.

Friday the O-Zone all-stars took on Madison Heights in the opening round of the tournament where their bats came alive scoring a total of 17 runs and winning the game by slaughter rule in three innings with the final score 17-2.

Halifax took the lead in the first inning scoring two runs, but really opened the game up when they scored 14 runs in the second inning. Right fielder Camdyn Gray reached base every time with three hits and three RBI’s in the contest, while center fielder Ty Throckmorton also reached base every time with two hits and two RBI’s.

The Halifax County O-Zone team takes on Appomattox Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. to keep their title hopes alive.
