Scholarship recipients

Troy Nation awarded four 2021 Halifax County graduates with $500 scholarships Wednesday evening. 

Recipients were Joseph Duffer, Alexis Hubbard, Nathan Comer and Susanna Watts.

All four recipients have been involved with sports throughout their lives in Halifax County, and all were former Halifax County Comet athletes. 

Joseph Duffer will be attending Concord University in the fall and playing baseball there. 

Alexis Hubbard will be attending Shenandoah University and running track. 

Nathan Comer will be attending Averett University and playing baseball. 

Susanna Watts, a former Comet who ran cross country and played soccer, will be attending Liberty in the fall. 

Each individual was presented a $500 scholarship by the Troy Nation board for their outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments, as well as their community service efforts during their tenure at Halifax County High School.  

Troy Nation is a local nonprofit that advocates for youth development through youth sports and community volunteerism in Halifax County.
