Entries are being accepted for the first Shriners Golf Tournament sponsored by Michelob Ultra to be held Friday, Sept. 20, at Green’s Folly Golf Course.

The Lakeside Shrine Club that includes members from Clarksville and Halifax County is staging the tournament. Half of the proceeds raised from the tournament will go to the Shriners Crippled Children’s Hospital. The other half of the proceeds will be used for community contributions.

The entry fee for four-person teams is a $300 contribution. Checks should be made payable to Shriners Golf Tournament, 1154 White Oak Drive, South Boston, 24592. The $300 entry fee includes a spot for a four-person team including greens fees, cart, cold refreshments and lunch.

Persons interested in entering a four-person team may do so by contacting Billy Hanks at 434-470-5657 or Nelson Pulliam at 434-579-5614. Entries are also being accepted at Green’s Folly Golf Course.

There is a limit of 38 teams for the tournament. Persons interested in entering a team should do so as early as possible. Once the 38-team limit is reached no other entries will be accepted.

Hole sponsorships are available for $50 each.

Golfers will have the opportunity to win a pair of hole-in-one prizes. A golfer that gets a hole-in-one on the par 3 ninth hole will win a new 2019 Subaru Outback donated by Terry Auto Group.

A zero-turn Cub Cadet lawnmower will be given away as a prize for a hole-in-one on one of the course’s other par 3 holes, with the hole to be designated later.

Prizes will be awarded for each flight, with the first, second and third prizes to be redeemed at the Green’s Folly Golf Course pro shop. First prize will be a $100 gift certificate. A $75 gift certificate will be the second prize and a $50 gift certificate will be the third prize.

A $75 gift certificate will be awarded for men and women for the longest drive on hole number 10. There will also be Closest-To-The-Pin prizes on holes 2, 5, 9, 12 and 16.

Tee times for the tournament will be 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., with shotgun starts.

The tournament will be played using a Captain’s Choice format. Teams will be flighted based upon handicaps. Persons entering a team must indicate the handicap for all players. At least two of the four players on the team must have verifiable handicaps. The two lowest handicaps of each team will determine what flight the team will be placed in.

Lunch will be served at noon, with lunch including barbecue, baked beans, coleslaw and beverage.

The tournament will be played rain or shine.
