Will Long of South Boston won a pair of recent golf events, winning a Piedmont Junior PGA tournament last Tuesday at Hat Creek Golf Course in Brookneal and on Thursday winning the local section of Drive, Chip, and Putt Contest sponsored by the PGA of America.

In Thursday’s Drive, Chip, and Putt Contest at the University of North Carolina Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Long finished first in chipping, third in putting and fourth in driving, good enough to earn first place overall in the 14-15-year-old age division.

Long now advances to the sub-region Drive, Chip, and Putt Contest, with the top two finishers advancing to the region competition. The region winner will go on to compete for the national championship at Augusta National Country Club during the week prior to the 2020 Masters Golf Tournament.

There were 23 contestants in the 14-15 age division in Thursday’s contest.

On Tuesday, Long won a sudden-death playoff to win the 14-15-year-old age division of the Piedmont Junior PGA Tournament at Hat Creek Golf Course.
