Halifax County High School’s varsity baseball outfielder Mason Hatcher was named to the second team of the The Virginia High School League announces its 2022 Class 4 All-State baseball team.
The list was released Friday.
After winning the Piedmont District championship, the Halifax County High School varsity baseball team’s season came to an end with a 3-0 loss to Orange County in the regional quarterfinals.
The loss ended the Comets’ season after going 13-6 in the regular season and 2-1 in the postseason winning a Piedmont District championship.
Hanover senior Seth Keller, a first-team selection at both shortstop and pitcher, was named the Class 4 Player of the Year, and Hanover head coach Tyler Kane earned the Class 4 Coach of the Year honor.
Fourteen players were selected first-team all-state and second-team all-state. Only those players selected to the first-team all-region teams are eligible for selection to the All-State team.
Each All-State selection committee comprises eight coaches (two from each region).
