A strong first quarter for the Halifax County High School JV girls would not be enough to hold off the Magna Vista Warriors on Tuesday night.

The Comets would fall to the Warriors 38-19 in what would be the last game of the season for the JV girls.

Halifax jumped out to a 6-0 lead on Magna Vista, and would finish the first quarter with a 6-4 lead over the Warriors, but Magna Vista would go on a 15-1 run to take a 15-7 lead into the half. The Warriors would extend that lead throughout the second half to end up winning by 19.

Magna Vista played a tough press defense throughout the game that caused a lot of turnovers for the Halifax players. The Warriors defense was able to create quite a few points off of turnovers and that would be the difference in the game.

The Halifax JV girls were lead by Tynia Carrington who scored 6 points, followed by Alyssa Glasscock who had 4 points. Shania Torello and Jadyn Harlow added 3 points each and Dakierra Graves had 2. Vinique Winn added a free throw to round out the scoring for the Comets.

The Halifax JV girl’s basketball team finished the season with a 13-4 record and a 7-4 record in the Piedmont District.
