Region 4D recently announced two Halifax County High School girls basketball players were named to the all-region team.

Senior Dee Dee Jeffress was named to the first team, and sophomore Ella Morrison was named to the second team for the Comets. Jeffress made the first team for the fourth time in her high school career, which is a tremendous feat for a high school player to achieve. Morrison, in only her second season with the Comets, earned second team all-region honors.

Halifax head coach David Graham was excited for the girls, praising Jeffress for the feat of making all-district and all-region first team for every year of her high school career.

“I think it is just great for them,” Graham said. He also went on to speak about how hard it is to accomplish what Jeffress has and had nothing but praise for both her and Morrison.

“This is just the beginning for Ella (Morrison),” Graham said. “This will be the first of many (honors) for her,” he added.

Jeffress and Morrison led the Comets this year, with both players being big parts in the teams success throughout the year. Jeffress eclipsed the 1,000 point total mark this year for points scored, a fitting way to end her senior year.

Earlier, Morrison and Jeffress also were named to the first team all-district for the Piedmont District.
