VIRginia International Raceway is welcoming back veteran racing stars to its iconic course for the SVRA Vintage Race of Champions Charity Pro-Am Race, taking place during the annual Heacock Classic Gold Cup Historic Races weekend, Sept. 19-22.

The four-day, star-studded event will feature racing events including veteran stock car and sports car legends battling it out in cars like Mustangs, Corvettes and Camaros alongside classic muscle cars, vintage car corrals, driver autograph sessions and much more.

Presented by Chopard Watch, the Vintage Race of Champions Charity Pro-Am, which hits the track Saturday, Sept. 21, is the final leg of SVRA’s Vintage Race of Champions Charity Pro-Am Series and will showcase iconic veteran Indy, IMSA and NASCAR drivers.

In the hunt for the win are Indy winners Willy T. Ribbs and Boris Said and fan-favorites like NASCAR Cup Champion Bobby Labonte as well as other NASCAR racers including Mike Skinner, Wally Dallenbach Jr. and more.

Proceeds from the 45-minute race will directly benefit IGNITE, the Autism Society of North Carolina’s community center for young adults with high-functioning autism or Asperger’s syndrome, founded by NASCAR crew chief Ray Evernham and his family.

“VIR’s renowned 3.27-mile road course is such a fun place for our participating NASCAR, Indy and IMSA legends to show off their skills to racing fans,” said Tony Parella, CEO of SVRA.

“We are proud to bring this beloved race back to VIR and cannot wait for the community to come out and see what our drivers have in store, all while supporting a noble cause.”

Car and racing enthusiasts can expect even more fun with VIR’s annual Heacock Classic Gold Cup Historic Races and Car Show Saturday, Sept. 21, featuring over 200 vintage race cars across several classes between nearly 100 to five-years-old.

The racing action also continues throughout the weekend, with the professional Trans-Am Series presented by Pirelli as well as the Mazda Miata Heritage Cup, which is returning for a third year on Saturday, Sept. 21 and Sunday, Sept. 22. Both series help share vintage racing styles to audiences around the nation and include peak condition cars.

Fans also can enjoy VIR’s Hagerty Show and Shine Car Show, open to all classic and exotic vehicles, including motorcycles, testing, qualifying, driver autograph sessions and more throughout the weekend.

“Welcoming the SVRA Vintage Race of Champions Charity Pro-Am race back again during our annual Heacock Classic Gold Cup weekend is beyond exciting,” said Connie Nyholm, owner and CEO of VIR.

“Having some of the biggest legends in the racing community come together on our track is a great honor. With three full days of racing entertainment, we know racing and car fans in the area are looking forward to this event as much as we are.”

Advance tickets for the Heacock Classic Gold Cup Historic Races weekend are $10 for Saturday or Sunday-only, $15 for a two-day ticket, $25 for a three-day ticket and $35 for a four-day ticket. All tickets are an additional $10 if purchased at the gate.
